Kahn provided comprehensive A/E services for the new one-million sq. ft. Mercedes-Benz assembly plant. Designers created a new and highly efficient layout for the automaker, locating the body, paint and assembly shops, as well as administration areas under one roof. Management offices also run through the heart of the manufacturing area. In addition to the production efficiencies realized, the configuration fosters open and informal employee communication and reinforces the team-oriented philosophy. This improved manufacturing process also has a positive impact on product quality, productivity and profitability. The manufacturing complex is supported by other site elements including an energy center, product shipping yard, hazardous material management area, delivery docks, and high speed and off-road test tracks. The $300 million plant manufacturers the M-Class SUV and the R-Class Grand Sports Tourer.
