Our Detroit office is seeking a full-time Healthcare Principal to join our multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and leading our Healthcare sector, including client relationship development, healthcare planning, and project leadership, in alignment with the responsibilities as defined below. The position requires a minimum of three (3) business days per week in the office, unless working on business development or project implementation activities.

The Healthcare Principal will serve as a strategic and visionary leader, advancing our healthcare practice through design excellence, thought leadership, and trusted client partnerships. A deep understanding of the healthcare industry is required for this role.

Job Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for:
Organizational Leadership
Contribute to our culture that encourages ingenuity, through curiosity, and true feeling of belonging.
Be a thought leader, researching innovations, drivers, and trends that directly influence our ability to create health care environments that improve lives.
Coordinate with the architectural and engineering directors on the recruitment and training of staff with skills essential to healthcare projects.
Mentor and inspire our next generation of leaders.
Business Development
Cultivate new and existing healthcare client and partner relationships in partnership with our Director of Strategic Relationships and other business development leaders.
Actively participate in professional associations and networking events.
Find and receive requests for proposals from a variety of sources.
Lead the development of proposals in partnership with Marketing.
Champion the interview team, through the development and presentation.
Contribute to financial profits through healthcare project wins.
Project Leadership
Be a project leader for the design and delivery of healthcare projects.
Collaborate with operational and technical directors, and project leads, to ensure innovative solutions and the best possible outcome for our clients.
Manage the client relationship throughout the project to achieve alignment between expectations, scope, and deliverables.
Proactively monitor and manage to complete the project within the contract schedule and fees.
Participate in post-occupancy evaluation and research initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following: deviation from these items can be made at the discretion of the hiring team:
Health Care Project Experience – Minimum often (10) years of experience as a project principal and/or project architect, for construction budgets greater than $25M.
Organization Leadership – Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a department and/or market leader with annual financial goals.
Relationship Management – Experience in establishing new relationships with potential clients and partners, growing the relationship that results in new projects, and maintaining the relationship with communication, issue resolution, and follow-up.
Business Development – Experience in all stages of finding and winning project work, including responding to request for proposals, formulating an inspiring interview, and finalizing the project contract.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture.
Architectural registration.
Preferred credentials: LEED, WELL, EDAC
