Mixed-use development with Ascend climbing gym opens in Erie, Pennsylvania

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of a new mixed-use building for the Erie Downtown Development Corporation (EDDC) featuring residential apartments and a climbing gym with a 52-foot climbing wall in the center of the building. Alongside Kahn's other projects in downtown Erie, PA, the Fifth and State building brings more engaging amenities to the heart of downtown and much needed residential space.

A recent article in the Erie Reader explains, this new building "is one of the biggest construction projects Downtown Erie has ever experienced and is now home to the aforementioned apartments, and, of course, the much-anticipated Ascend Climbing Gym, a 28,000-square-foot space housing multiple rock climbing walls and boulders of varying heights and difficulties."

Ryan Hoover, Experience Director for EDDC, said, "I believe the new Ascend Climbing gym is an excellent example of what the EDDC is set up to do – bring about transformational change in the heart of Downtown Erie."
