The Belle Isle Conservancy is hosting the second installation of its Deeper Dive event series with the official exhibit opening of Albert Kahn at the Crossroads: The “Lost” Belle Isle Aquarium & Horticultural Building Blueprints, an exhibit in partnership with Lawrence Technological University (LTU).
The Conservancy’s opening event will take place at LTU’s Detroit Center for Design + Technology on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at 4219 Woodward Ave. in Midtown, and the exhibit will run through March 10, 2017.
It is a rare opportunity to view documents from the very early career of the world-renowned Detroit architect Albert Kahn.
Members of the Conservancy’s Historic Preservation Committee will present a Gallery Talk during the opening event at 7:30pm. They will put into context the Victorian roots of the Belle Isle Aquarium and Horticultural Building and go in depth about the significance of the design.
Advance tickets for Deeper Dive: Albert Kahn are $40 for general admission, $20 for student admission. Students must show school ID when checking in at the event. Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.
Tickets include beer, wine, and light fare.
