Albert Kahn Associates is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our Marketing & PR team. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & PR, this person will coordinate the firm's day-to-day external communications, facilitate social media content and strategy, support thought leadership and PR initiatives, and contribute to the overall visibility of Kahn's work, culture, and people. 

The right candidate brings strong writing instincts, a creative eye, and the drive to make things happen without waiting to be asked. This position sits within a small, high-functioning team that operates with intention and moves quickly. Collaboration is constant, autonomy is real, and the work matters.

Job Functions

Social Media & Content

  • Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with the firm's marketing goals, sector priorities, and brand voice across social media platforms.

  • Write, edit, and publish social media content that goes beyond project announcements, bringing genuine insight, context, and Kahn's point of view to every post.

  • Source and coordinate supporting visuals, including photos, graphics, and video assets, to accompany published content.

  • Coordinate with staff following events, conferences, and project milestones to gather timely information and photos for follow-up content.

  • Manage and support personal LinkedIn strategies for firm leaders, collaborating on post concepts, thought leadership, and profile presence.

Thought Leadership & PR

  • Collaborate with firm principals to develop thought leadership articles, blog posts, and external bylines, guiding the process from concept through publication.

  • Build and maintain relationships with trade publications, media contacts, and external organizations relevant to Kahn's market sectors and communications goals.

  • Support leaders in promoting activity with external organizations, speaking engagements, and civic involvement through appropriate communications channels.

  • Identify opportunities for Kahn's leaders and work to be featured in relevant external publications, panels, speaking engagements, and platforms.

Website & Digital Presence

  • Refresh and manage content on albertkahn.com, including news articles, new employees, updated content, thought leadership pieces, project updates, and team announcements.

  • Monitor the firm's online presence across platforms, flagging opportunities and inconsistencies as they arise.

  • Track engagement metrics and bring forward recommendations to strengthen Kahn's external brand awareness.

Graphic Design & Visual Content

  • Create supporting graphics for social media posts, articles, and website content consistent with Kahn's visual brand standards.

  • Source/produce photo and video content for use across digital platforms, including project documentation, event coverage, and culture-focused storytelling.

Proposal & Brand Support

  • Provide occasional writing and editing support to the proposal team on written sections of RFQ/RFP responses, award submissions, and brand materials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone across content types and audiences.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with major social media platforms and a clear understanding of what performs and why on each.

  • Experience developing content calendars and creating platform-specific social media content.

  • Graphic design proficiency using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar applications.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • A proactive, self-directed work style.

Preferred

  • 0 to 2 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or a related role, including internships and relevant coursework.

  • Photography, videography, and video editing skills for capturing and producing content suitable for web and social media use.

  • Familiarity with Squarespace or a similar CMS platform.

  • Experience tracking and interpreting engagement analytics across social platforms.

  • Exposure to a professional services, architecture, engineering, or design environment.
